Making the Most Out of Brain Science: Strengthening the Brain with the Help of Community

A lot of interesting things were discussed with Daniel Amen, MD on the webinar last night. Including the differences between the male and female brain, how balancing your hormones can strengthen your nervous system, and why some anxiety may actually be good for your brain.

There were 8,774 viewers and it was exciting to see how much of the globe tuned in. Many countries were involved, including:

Canada 1,081
United Kingdom 429
Australia 412
Germany 58
Mexico 52
Israel 25
South Africa 23
Argentina 21
Malaysia 11
Japan 8
Turkey 8
Belgium 7
Croatia 5
Poland 4
Isle of Man 2
Libya 1

The comment board is buzzing with 116 (at the time of this writing) insightful takes on my webinar with Daniel, and I just wanted to highlight a few that stuck out to me.

“Glad to hear some confirmation that thyroid functions, Vitamin D, and hormones all play such a vital role in our mental health. For me the concept of the ‘Dinosaur Brain’ made a lot of sense. First thing this morning, I decided to cut down my sugar consumption radically. Refreshing to hear, unashamedly, the spiritual aspect brought into this academic discussion. Daniel, keep up the Good work!”

– Gene Kol, Psychotherapist & Lifestyle Consultant, UK

“I found the information from Dr. Amen to be fascinating! How the brain responds to our diets, hormone levels, and stress was very good information. While we often hear about the negative effects of sugar I’m not sure that most of us are aware of the prevalence. I also thought the information on consuming ‘healthy fats.’ while not new, directed us to cause and effect insights. Thank you for this great series. I look forward to the next presentations.”

– Donna Holz, Social Work, Pewaukee, WI

“I was most impressed with today’s presentation and consider it a gold mine to have access to the quality of presenters. So much valuable information. I particularly liked the debrief at the end with Ronald Seigel and Kelly McGonigal. Some very different perspectives. Ruth you also did an excellent job. I look forward to next week. Thank you”

– Melinda, Spry Transitions Coach

“As a psychotherapist, I think this information will help depersonalize highly charged couples in my office.”

– Stacy Korfist, Branches Center for Counseling, Redondo Beach & Temecula, California

“Thank you for this presentation. It was very interesting to hear how hormonal changes may affect the brain as well as male/female differences. I think that it was important that Ron and Kelly tempered the ultimate course as how to manage hormonal brain changes.”

– Robert Haile, MD, Costa Rica

About talk back ,finding balance with Dr Siegel.Once a person learned me the following (i think it is approximately what dr. siegel said).
If you have a problem (fear, worry….),you can deal with it in different ways!
He suggested : imagine you draw a horiziontal line and you put 3 points on it ,1 in the middle ,1 extreme right,1 extreme left.
On the extreme right point ,are the people who are totaly drowning in their problems ( extreme worry, rerunning thoughts..)
On the lextreme left point, are the people who are totaly denying that there is any problem at all.
And between those 2 points are all the other degrees of dealing with a problem ,the art is to become in the middle and be ome so more balanced to deal with problems.
We can always look at that imaginary line and try to see where am I now and try to become more balanced.
Meditation is one of those techniques to become more balanced. We learn to stop and stay with everything .
I am so glad that person learned me that,it has already been so so helpfull many times.
I do not know but it seems a bit the same dr, Siegel wanted to say.
