Infertility and Miscarriage: Working with the Grief of Unrealized Dreams

Clients struggling with infertility mourn unseen losses.
Often silently, they gird themselves against reminders of their unrealized dreams (reminders that seem to be around every corner).
Without intervention, their grief can harden into depression, anxiety, and reproductive trauma.
So how do we help these clients make sense of what’s happening so they can forge a way forward?
To start, you need strategies to:
- Assess for post-traumatic impact of reproductive loss
- Help clients process reproductive loss such as miscarriage or stillbirth
- Address the strain that infertility places on your client’s relationships using Emotionally Focused Therapy
- Treat the withdrawal, isolation and insecure attachment that can drive couples apart
To help you implement them into your clinical work, we’ve partnered with Kristy Koser, PhD, LPCC to bring you . . .

Why the Transcript Is Essential:
- The transcript makes it easy to go back and double check concepts, citations and names that are mentioned
- We put in a table of contents to make it easy for you to find the exact part of the webinar you need
- Having the concepts already written allows you to take notes on how you’re going to use the ideas rather than transcribing the ideas
- Some people simply learn better by reading than by listening or watching
- You will be able to print out and share techniques presented in the session with your patients

“I really liked being able to follow along with the transcripts as I listened…it was nice not to feel like I had to take notes. I really feel like I remember more when I both hear and see at the same time.”
