Program Session October 1 - November 23, 2007 |
||||||||||||||
| How It Works | ||||||||||||||
| Before the Course | ||||||||||||||
| Once you register, you will be given a website address and username and password which will enable you to log on to our on-line class room. First, youll listen to a brief orientation and then go on the message board to introduce yourself to the rest of the group. Usually a lively discussion develops, even before the course actually begins. Youll also want to purchase and look through the required book. Youll need access to the internet, a sound card and either RealPlayer which you can download for free at http://www.real.com or Macromedia Flash Player which can be downloaded free of charge at http://www.macromedia.com/flash (recommended for broadband users). | ||||||||||||||

|
||||||||||||||
| During the Course | ||||||||||||||
| We will post a new
lesson twice a week including a lecture, a demonstration and specially
developed exercises designed to help you practice specific techniques. Youll
post your experience on the message board, sharing what worked and what
didnt with the other participants, and giving and receiving feedback
as well. Youll also benefit from the feedback of your instructor, an
internationally recognized expert in the field. Throughout the week youll be able to listen to the lecture and demonstration as many times as youd like and check in frequently to the message board to dialogue with other participants. Though you can access the course from any computer, each lecture will be archived for two weeks to accommodate your schedule, should you go out of town. Each lesson will build upon the last so you will want to "attend" each week, doing so at a time that works best with your busy schedule and that suits your learning style. We realize that some people learn best in the morning, while others are better late at night. Group participation is a very important part of your online experience. We highly recommend that you post your assignments and feedback weekly, and read the other message board comments as well. Plan to spend 3 - 4 hours a week in the course, which includes reading approximately 20 - 30 pages from the text. |
||||||||||||||
| Teleconference Sessions | ||||||||||||||
| Each course includes two 60-minute teleconference calls designed to enhance your learning and provide another bridge to connect with your instructor and other participants. Times for these sessions as well as a phone number will be e-mailed to you and posted on the message board. | ||||||||||||||
| After the Course | ||||||||||||||
| During the week after the last class you will be asked to complete an evaluation form, giving us feedback on the course. You will also
take a brief open book test. Continuing Education Credit will be given to all students who "attend" the course and complete the test and evaluation form. Your postings of assignments each week will serve to verify "your attendance". |
