After the Darkest Hour:
How Suffering Begins the Journey to Wisdom
Kathleen Brehony, PhD
What allows some people to become more courageous, compassionate,
and conscious as a result of life's "dark nights of the soul," while others
become bitter and jaded? This session will explore the psychological,
behavioral, and spiritual qualities of those who've turned periods of pain
and suffering into opportunities for growth and renewal. Participants will
learn 12 practical strategies for growing through life's difficult times, as
well as identifying those responses that keep people psychologically entrenched
in suffering. Invaluable to all practitioners is learning how to distinguishing
between "neurotic" and "real" suffering in order to effect successful treatment. |
