Main Conference - Session 3
Thursday, December 7, 11:45am-1:15pm

305
Sugar Addiction, Fat Cells and Inflammation:
The Missing Link in the Insulin Resistance and Obesity Epidemic

Karen Wolfe, MBSS, MD

Over 65% of adults and 30% of children are obese or overweight. The CDC predicts that 30% of children born after 2000 will develop diabetes and 80% of people with diabetes will die of cardiovascular disease such as heart attack or stroke. In this presentation, participants will learn about high glycemic foods, insulin, and metabolic syndrome; the link between inflammation and heart disease; how to get into the "Anti-Inflammatory Zone"; and ways to integrate a low inflammation focus into your wellness program as well as wellness approaches for your patients.
