Main Conference - Session 3
Thursday, December 7, 11:45am-1:15pm

302
Invisible Heroes:
Survivors of Trauma and How They Heal

Belleruth Naparstek, LISW, BCD

After decades of well-meaning missteps, we finally understand how to work with post-traumatic stress. Clinical experiences and fast-growing research tell us that standard "talk therapy" can be useless and sometimes even counterproductive as an initial in-road to PTSD. While trauma-related memory, cognition, and language are often impaired, the ability to access healing images, sensation, emotion and perception, in an immersive, right-brained state, is highly accessible, gentle, and good to go for healing. This workshop simply and clearly explains the biochemistry of terror and its grip on mind, body and spirit, and shows how imagery works to undo its damage.
