Main Conference - Session 4

401
Reversing the Course of Chronic Pain

Maggie Phillips, PhD

Although 1 in 3 adults over 50 are affected significantly by pain, standard treatments for chronic pain often fail because they center on medications that over-treat, under-treat, or further complicate the pain problem. This workshop will help participants learn to identify and resolve specific types of inner conflicts related to pain, assist in relieving distress related to past traumatic stress that is often held in the body as a constriction, and treat imbalances related to the body's fight/flight response. Methods will be drawn from hypnotic, Somatic Experiencing, and Energy Psychology traditions.
